Tori Kelly: The New Girl on the Block
23-year-old Tori Kelly is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She came from very humble beginnings in a musically inclined family. At the tender age of 10 years old she felt the tugging of musicianship while simultaneously being influenced by her mother and father. Her mother is knowledgeable in keyboard and saxophone, while her father plays the bass and sings. Kelly’s playlist as a child consisted of R&B and Pop; some artists she listened to were Lauryn Hill and Jill Scott. In Season 9 of American Idol Tori Kelly did not make it passed the final twenty-four, but did not allow this to stop her destiny. She began writing, mastered the guitar and recorded songs on her computer. Using YouTube as a tool, Tori Kelly uploaded covers of songs. In fact, Tori sang “Thinkin’ Bout You” by Frank Ocean and received 17 million views and about 700,000 subscribers. Her first album was self-proclaimed and electronically published. It was titled; “Handmade Songs by Tori Kelly.” The album blew up and opened up a window of possibilities. Soon Tori would go on live dates, clubs, and theaters. Kelly even had the opportunity to open for Ed Sheeran. Scooter Braun, a former help to Justin Beiber soon became Kelly’s manager. Tori Kelly then became signed to Capitol Records who later released her EP fall of 2013. Two years later, the well-awaited official album of Tori Kelly, “Unbreakable Smile” was released. With that said Tori Kelly is more than just a pretty face with a beautiful voice. She is also a woman with style and we have you covered with some of her best red carpet looks.
A Summer Go-To
In this trendy look Tori is all set for the red carpet! The dress’ structure is a jaw dropper. The bottom half is cut vertically, elongating the leg and the top half, a V-neck line. In this playful look, Tori is wearing a Sandra Paris dress. The transparent waist makes Tori Kelly appear taller, as well as the neck line. The Adidas graphic, yet colorful sneakers make the dress look approachable because of the sneakers. The sneaker loosens this look up a bit, dressing it down. Tori’s voice is so compelling that you will begin to sing lyrics to her songs every time they come on the radio. Her personality of being herself comes across in her fashion as well as music. For instance, she wears her natural curls and dresses cute and casual. Clearly, this is not an act and Tori Kelly is an unbelievable performer, but entertainer who leaves it all on the stage.
