The #BETHonors: A Night of Black Excellence Red Carpet Exclusive
The Black Entertainment Television (BET) network shows appreciation to African Americans who have made groundbreaking achievements; the name of this great event is the BET Honors. The awards are presented annually and is broadcasted on BET. Comedian and talk show host Arsenio Hall hosted the 2016 BET Honors and legends Patti LaBelle, Lee Daniels, L.A. Reid, Eric Holder, and Mellody Hobson were honored. The performers that hit the stage last night were Fantasia, Ledisi, Jussie Smollett, Toni Braxton, Jasmine Sullivan, Usher, and more! Black Don’t Crack
At the age of 48, Toni Braxton graces the red carpet in this black gown. The diamond shapes throughout the gown help create the hourglass shape, even though Ms. Braxton needs no help in that area! The cut of the dress in the mid-section draws attention to the sexy triangle shape, making the gown appear to be two separate pieces. Flaring to the ends of the gown, a train sparkles with black sequence. With hair in an updo, and makeup in a smoky eye and pink lip Toni can teach us many fashion tips. Ladies get in[formation] the “Un-Break my Heart” singer could teach you a few things!
“Shine Bright like a Diamond”
In a sleek silver dress Fantasia sparkles! Gathering right before the neckline, the dress creates a V-shape. She continues with the sparkle theme with her black open-toed heels, decorated in rhinestones. Her eye makeup is dark and dramatic. In contrast, Fantasia’s lips are a light pink. No one can rock the short hair cut quite like Fantasia. Her black asymmetrical haircut never gets old and gives fun flare.
Black Royalty
Empire star, Jussie Smollett looks plush in an all-black tux. With a two-buttoned jacket, Jussie decides to button one button for this very sleek ensemble. The bow tie and lace less shoes makes Jussie Smollett’s look complete. It’s no secret that Jussie is a Lyon, because he looks like royalty.
(B.B.) Blue Beauty
Housewives of Potomac reality star, Gizelle Bryant looks fabulous in her blue rousched dress. This blue beauty has silver jewels, to the right side of the dress. To match, a jeweled silver necklace and bracelet. Gizelle’s shoes are silver open-toed and have jewels falling at the ankle. Her makeup contains silver eye shadow, rosey cheeks and pink lips. Gizelle’s hair never goes unnoticed as her blonde, curly long locks feathers to the side. Ms. Gizelle Bryant may have kept Potomac a secret, but it is no secret that she continually slays.
Black Velvet
Janelle Monet never fails to look classy styled in a black velvet suit that is tailored to perfection. The white collared shirt and black tie Janelle wears better than anyone on the red carpet. The pink flower on the lapel and belt takes this look up a notch and adds dimension. The pointed toe white and black heels take us back to a new and improved 60’s. Janelle Monae always pays close attention to detail, as seen in her choice of accessories. The clutch is decorated in red beading and her rings are almost on every finger. She always has the best hairstyles, for this look she chooses a dynamite curly short cut. Her makeup, a natural glow and red lips. Janelle Monae looks like a “Q.U.E.E.N” in her original ensemble of black and white.
Blue is the New Black
This very familiar face of Washington, D.C. arrived to the red carpet in a blue contemporary look. The very soulful Raheem DeVaughn throws tradition out of the window and rocks this right-zipper blue coat. If zippers weren’t enough Raheem’s buttons on his coat takes all coats to school! The open collar on the coat is too stylish allowing his neck jewelry to show. DeVaughn goes with a white tee underneath his coat and a silver pendant necklace. The blue ripped washed out jeans and blue boots makes this look casual but cool. Raheem DeVaughn’s fedora hat just proves that Raheem can dress. Dear Raheem, you inspire us, class is in session!
Black Gold
In a timeless dress created by Dennis Basso, Monica wears her smile and dress very well. The gold themed dress has a full-length skirt decorated in pastel colored flowers. Monica looks like she’s on her way to a ball as her hair is styled in a middle part and straight hair. Her makeup is flawless, her eye shadow is pink and her lips have a light pink gloss. With a dress such as this, Monica looks like an angel. She’s definitely an angle of ours.
