Like Father Like Son: Ice Cube & O’Shea Jackson Jr.
2015 was a great year for rapper, actor, and the director Ice Cube and his rising son, O’Shea Jackson Jr. The film, “Straight Outta Compton” was released and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. “Straight Outta Compton” was about the groundbreaking rap group, N.W.A. getting its start in Southern Los Angeles. In 1988, the group took the sound of pop and hip-hop and created a revolution that not only took South L.A. by storm but also the nation. The group’s first album was entitled, “Straight Outta Compton.” It painted a picture of the rough streets of Compton for the listeners, providing nothing but truth! With the help of manager Jerry Heller, group members Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins), Easy-E, DJ Yella, and MC Ren the rapping group pushed their way to the top of the music industry, leaving a mark in history. O’Shea doesn’t only play the part his father Ice Cube, but we’ve noticed other similarities between the father and son duo, including their fashion sense!
The Tux Twins (Triple T)
The father and son duo look so happy as they are #twinning on the red carpet. Both are wearing a black tuxedo, and Ice Cube is wearing a black vest but O’Shea is not. Ice Cube goes the more traditional route in a double-buttoned jacket, white collared shirt, and black tie. O’Shea Jr. is wearing a single-buttoned jacket, a white shirt without a collar, and short lapel. His lapel is long and his pants have a silk lining. Besides the twins looking alike, they both have the same styled beards and mustaches, realize that?
Old School Meets New School Hip-Hop
O’Shea Jackson (Ice Cube) and O’Shea Jackson Jr. both wear the color black often and share the same mannerisms. O’Shea Jr. makes a lot of hand gestures just like his father Ice Cube. In this photograph both actors have at least one hand on their mid-section. O’Shea Jr. has on a black t-shirt, black skinny jeans, and white Jordans. O’Shea accessorizes with a gold chain, and numerous gold rings. Ice Cube brings old school hip-hop to his look. Instead of wearing Jordans and skinny jeans he wears plain black low top sneakers, black boot cut jeans, and a long sleeved black collared shirt. Compared to his son O’Shea Jr. Ice Cube chose to accessorize with a black Raiders snapback and black shades. The color black is versatile because there are so many options that one could choose to wear, it’s the individual pieces chosen that make the outfit.
Snapbacks with a Side of… Mean Mug?
The father and son do not look so happy, as they are both mean mugging in black on black. Ice Cube has on a long sleeved black collared shirt, boot cut jeans, and low top black sneakers. Ice Cube is wearing his go-to accessories, black shades and black snapback. O’Shea Jr. is wearing a black t-shirt, black loose fitting jeans, black low tops, and a black snapback hat. Also, O’Shea never leaves his gold chains out of the equation, as he is seen in two gold chains.
Ice Cube and O’Shea Jackson Jr. favor so much not only because they are father and son, and dress alike time to time, but because O’Shae Jackson Jr. is truly his father’s son. Along with the movie that O’Shae Jr. starred in, portraying his father, O’Shae Jr. has picked up so many of Ice Cube’s gestures. For instance, his hands and facial expressions will leave anyone thinking that they both are upset!
What an honor it must’ve been for O’Shea Jackson Jr. to play a role, after his father, and how proud Ice Cube must be. What differentiates the father and son duo is that Ice Cube represents his traditional way of dressing with loose fitting clothes, which are very simple. On the other hand, O’Shae Jr. wears modern clothes, such as skinny jeans, and short sleeves. Each individual brings something different from their era, and the world can’t get enough of the Jackson boys!
