Tap into Your Inner-Cookie (Empire Edition): 5 Things You Need
Cookie, played by actress Taraji P. Henson on Fox’s Empire, is known for her fierce, independent, and no-tolerance mentality. Her passion to ensure her family’s empire has longevity is apparent, as she fights through roadblocks on the way. She holds her tongue for no one, not even her ex, Luscious, who is the CEO of their Empire. It’s hard to watch this hit series and not pay notice to her unforgettable outfits in each scene. These outfits represent Cookie’s “Go Bold, or Go Home,” personality, and these are a few things you would need to tap into your inner-Cookie!
1. Fur
Cookie loves her fur, whether it’s a vest or coat she adds fur to top an ensemble off. This purple and black fur is a statement piece and does not need much to add because of its beautiful color. Cookie could easily wear a LBD (Little Black Dress) underneath and would be good to go.
2. Leopard
If you watch the show, you would know that Cookie wears lots and lots of leopard! Leopard is a bold print, just like Cookie so it’s not surprising that this is a part of her wardrobe. In this look, Cookie is wearing a leopard dress and leopard hat, and if that wasn’t enough, Cookie has a leopard bag to match.
In this next look, Cookie has on leopard again but tones it down in a leopard blazer. This blazer is the color of yellow and black, yellow is still a bold color just as the leopard, and however she mixes it up while at work, yelling at Luscious or in the streets taking care of business. 3. Bright Colored Lip
Cookie takes risks when it comes to color, and is creative in her choices of lipstick. Cookie has on a red leather jacket and a fuchsia lip. Two bold colors but it works because the red and fuchsia do not clash. Her vibe in this look is a rocker chick and it works because it’s daring and loud, not many people can do this. It’s a risk that only Cookie and her “Cookie Monsters” are willing to take.
The classic red matte lip looks great on Cookie, as she often pairs a red lip with fur or leopard on the show. 4. Hats
Cookie decides to wear a hat every now and then but when she does she rocks it! In this first outfit her hat flares out at the ends and is beige with a gold lining on the outside of it. Her outfit stands alone but the hat adds attitude, and personalizes this ensemble.
This black hat is usually seen at a funeral and can be seen as old-fashioned. But, Cookie brings this black funeral hat back, and makes the netting in the front of the hat look good. 5. Knee-High Boots
Call Cookie dramatic if you will, but nothing gives more drama than these knee-high boots. The studs in the center of the boot as well as around the top really make the boot stand out. The boot is also pointed toe, which makes this funky boot a little classy. Who would’ve known a black leather boot could say so much?
This next boot is snakeskin, with a pointed toe. The boots have the colors of black, brown and cream, which pair nicely with her fur. Cookie’s fur is neutral-toned, and shares some of the same colors as the boot. Cookie’s black tights contrast the colors of the boot, hence the black and cream. The snakeskin knee-high boots add to the animalistic themed outfit.
